White on White

To tell you the truth, I am experiencing another horrible “lack of inspiration” period, so very little has been done here in my studio for the past two weeks. A tag here, an album page there, but nothing really finished. But, as from tonight, I say it is over! I’m going to get my self back on track, one way or the other! 🙂 And hopefully I will finish this journal:

Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Play Day

It’s weekend, so it’s the perfect time to play, right?

It all started yesterday…

I pulled out my paper scraps, which were starting to take over every inch of free space around and on my desk and so had to be dealt with.

So I decided to make some tags and cards. You know that I don’t like to throw away anything. 🙂

That was fun! And I have more scraps to use, so there will be more fun for me!

After that I had to play a bit in my Art Journal, you know, to have even more fun,LOL! I decided to use crayons, just to see what happens…

At first, these pages were very different, but then I realized that didn’t look good, kinda distracting, so I made some changes to the page on the right to make it a bit like it was my intention for the whole spread to look like this, hehehe. Successful or not, I like it. Crayons, acrylic paint, gluing, stamping, scraping, oh such a lovely mess!

But then I thought I would make another spread, because, you know, it was fun! 🙂

Simple, but I’m happy with it! And it also made me discover something about my self – I like circles! 🙂

Have a wonderful day!

My New Journal

Yay! Recycling is the best! I made a journal using an unwanted calendar, a paper bag, some old beads, handmade beads, and paint. And because the calendar was so big, I have enough material for another journal!

I’ve cut a piece of the calendar to make the cover, and then wrapped it with painted paper bag.

And with beads on the spine, it now looks like this!

For the inside I left the bag unpainted. I like it that way.  (don’t mind the first page, it’s not finished, hehe)

But pages two and three are 🙂

I have to admit, I am still a bit shy to show you my work because I can’t draw or paint, have no talent for it, but I think it would be good for me to face that fear. So, here I am, showing you my “art”. 🙂

I am just happy that I used some trash and made something useful!

My beads

After seeing the photo of my fabric necklace

some of my friends asked me to show them how I make these fabric beads. So, here we go! 🙂

First you’ll need some cotton wool, rolled into a small ball.

Then take a stripe of fabric, about one inch wide (maybe a bit less) and 5-6 inches long. Wrap it around the ball in different directions, and secure with stitches.

As you can see, I like the “not neat” look. 🙂

After adding a stitch here and a stitch there, it will look like this:

Then wrap it a few times with the thread that’s already on your needle, and secure it with a little knot:

Then add more thread in different colors, just for fun. 🙂

All this bead needs now are beads!

And a friend! 🙂

And that’s how I make them. I hope this tutorial was helpful. Have a great time making beads, and remember, once you start, it’s hard to stop! 🙂
