Something New

Actually, all I wanted to do is organize and clean my studio! But then some of my souvenir journals sold and I had to make new journals for the shop. Then a friend called me to say that her friends wanted to buy shawls from me , so I had to weave. And then my dog had some health problems, which as usual made me go insane with worry, so to calm my self down, I made beads. Lots of beads. That way I could be in the same room with him, and it kept my hands busy and my mind occupied. It helped.

Luckily, he feels better now.

So here are the shawls:

Variegated yarn with a touch of sparkling mohair,Β  very warm and soft.

The next one looks completely different than in this photo, but my camera didn’t want to cooperate. It’s a shame it looks so ugly here when in real life it’s lovely and sparkly and violet…

This shawl was finished about a monthΒ  ago, but I forgot to photograph it, so here it is now.

I hope ladies will like them. πŸ™‚

And now I want to make even more beads! They are SO addictive! I’ll have to buy more storage containers because I have no idea where to put them. πŸ™‚ But it is so relaxing and fun to take all those fabric scraps, bits of yarn, all kinds of paper, and while watching (well, actually listening to) TV, make these beauties. And yes, my living room is a mess again, but who cares. I have gorgeous beads now! πŸ™‚

Oh, and I almost finished organizing and cleaning my studio, although it will soon be a complete chaos there, as it usually is, but never mind. πŸ™‚

Finally Something New

It’s not that I didn’t have any inspiration lately to make things. I blame Stephen King for writing amazing books! LOL! All I want to do is read! And to be honest, I’m thinking more about the holiday (still three weeks away) than anything else. Books and holiday. They are perfect when combined, but I’ll have to wait a bit more. πŸ™‚

When I finally manage to put the book away (it’s “Under the dome” right now), I do ‘do’ something. I make healthy food, sprouting beans for a soup,

B 004

sprouting wheat for bread and cookies,

B 009

making “all kinds of vegetables in the same pot” meals with steamed rice,

B 002

I made my self a pair of earrings (sorry for the bad photo) with paper beads, fabric and paint,

C 022

some fabric and paper tags,

B 024

and I finally finished this fabric journal, with my handmade paper inside and watercolor paper.

B 019

Also, two souvenir type of journals for the shop here in Belgrade. They are titled Belgrade of course. πŸ™‚

B 010

They sell very well, so the shop owner asked me if I could make two this time, one masculine and one girly. πŸ™‚

B 014

B 015

B 016

B 017

I am quite pleased with both of them.

Now, if only I could weave more and read less. The yarn is calling me, but the book…it’s sooo good! πŸ™‚

My New Journal

Yay! Recycling is the best! I made a journal using an unwanted calendar, a paper bag, some old beads, handmade beads, and paint. And because the calendar was so big, I have enough material for another journal!

I’ve cut a piece of the calendar to make the cover, and then wrapped it with painted paper bag.

And with beads on the spine, it now looks like this!

For the inside I left the bag unpainted. I like it that way.Β  (don’t mind the first page, it’s not finished, hehe)

But pages two and three are πŸ™‚

I have to admit, I am still a bit shy to show you my work because I can’t draw or paint, have no talent for it, but I think it would be good for me to face that fear. So, here I am, showing you my “art”. πŸ™‚

I am just happy that I used some trash and made something useful!

Paper beads, charms and ATC cards

Last night was so much fun! I was making paper beads, rummaging through my bead and charm collection, and I came up with these:

My paper beads are far from perfect, but I love how they look. And the bracelet is probably not finished, I think I should add some more charms to it, but I wanted to show it to you anyway. The best thing is that I already had all these metal bits in my stash, and now I have two nice pieces of jewelry for free! πŸ™‚

I also wanted to show you my new ATC’s. These are made for “Mother Earth ATC Swap” that Louise is hosting at Milliande’s Art Community for Women, and I was inspired to use recycled materials such as plastic bags and paper bags. I also used my handmade paper, which is also made out of recycled paper, and then added some stitching for texture, paint, glitter and shimmer (of course), and pressed leaves and flowers. I am really pleased with these cards, but the most interesting part for me was the learning process. And what did I learn? I learned something about my interpretation of the theme. Since this is my third attempt in making ATC’s, it became obvious to me that my cards are never literal in that interpretation, but always have some (more or less) hidden meaning. That’s why I like making them, it’s a process of exploring my creativity and learning something about my self.
