While I was writing my last blog post these two pretties were almost complete. So now that I finished them I can show you how they look.
First an altered book:
I used fabric, gel medium, modelling paste and acrylic paint to make the cover look like this, and I’m very happy with the result.
I sewed and distressed the pages and added lace and other bits to them:
The other one is a fabric journal, with a heart (of course). 🙂
Lots and lots of stitching:
And the inside:
Have a great day! 🙂
To tell you the truth, I am experiencing another horrible “lack of inspiration” period, so very little has been done here in my studio for the past two weeks. A tag here, an album page there, but nothing really finished. But, as from tonight, I say it is over! I’m going to get my self back on track, one way or the other! 🙂 And hopefully I will finish this journal:
Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
I’ve joined another swap at Milliande’s, and this time it’s a “Heart Pin Swap”. But for some reason I immediately started thinking about books, books with hearts, books in shape of a heart, etc. So, following my inspiration, I made my first batch:
Suede, handmade paper, wire hearts, fabric hearts and puff paint. Cute little books.
All they need now is a love message or a poem to be written in them. 🙂
I am happy happy happy! I finished this journal last night, and I have to say I am very satisfied with it! It is so ‘Me’! Although I do like to play and to explore other styles, this type of journal is definitely my style. The colors, the fraying, different fabrics used to create texture, I mean, I love it!
I used various fabrics, from organza to tea dyed cotton, handmade paper, heavy weight paper, hand and machine stitching. It also has a pocket inside with some tags and a little booklet made with tea dyed paper for additional writing or other memories.
I think I will have to start making another one right away! These beauties are so addictive! 🙂
Still too much to do and not enough time to play! But, loosing some sleep can give you time! Not the best idea I guess, but that’s all I could do! I really wanted to make something, well, just because. And as I have a TON of all kinds of bits and pieces that I just can’t throw away (does that sound familiar to you?) I decided to use some of that ‘treasure’ I collect. So I made a journal with recycled cardboard (of course), scraps of different papers that were just laying around, some packaging material that was great for making a flower, an old button, and some yarn . With just an hour or two late in the evening, I think this journal came out not so bad! 🙂
I love making journals, albums and notebooks. They are pretty, useful, and they make a great gift!
I also made some brooches, crocheted a spiral scarf (as requested by a customer), and then decided to play again (and loose some more sleep, lol) so I made a heart.
I make these hearts from time to time, even though I don’t know what to do with them. I just love hearts! Here are the ones I made some time ago:
I think I have a serious problem with letting go of the things I make. 🙂 Do you have that problem too?
This is what I like to do in the evenings. Instead of watching TV, I like to relax by playing with paper.
I recycled again, this time it’s Mc Donald’s paper cup (yes, I occasionally eat junk food, hehe).
I wrapped it with masking tape, then added some white glue over that just to keep everything in place. Painted it with acrylics, glued punched flowers, and glued buttons in centers. And that’s it! Now I have a lovely and colorful cup which could be used for so many things.
I also made some ATCs I plan to give to friends instead of classic Christmas cards. Well, I made some cards too, but I wanted to show you these. Nothing too complicated, but I like how they turned out.
Have a great day! 🙂
Two new handwoven scarves and a bit of playing with fabric and paint. 🙂
I was making stencils and trying them out on some fabric scraps. (photos below) Not bad I think.
Have a great day! 🙂
I love days like this. Creating, creating, creating! Although I make all kinds of things, my favorite activity is, of course, weaving. But I don’t blog that much about it. Why? Well, because it’s a slow process and there would be about one post a week if not less! And I want to blog because it’s fun and because it keeps me connected with people around the world, and because once I started doing that, I can’t seem to stop! ,and because I love to make different things, things that are my way of self exploring, exploring art, exploring different mediums, exploring life! Sooo, that’s why I did everything today! There was some weaving done, then sewing my handwoven fabric, then making some cute ornaments, and it is all still work in progress, but there was huge progress made today, so I’m happy!
Have a great weekend! 🙂
These boxes are so tiny! Only one inch! They contained microscope glass, but I had no use of that, so I decided to alter them. First I painted them with black acrylic paint, then added crackle medium, and then some off-white paint. After that I embellished them with puff paint, a heart, a flower, and a butterfly. And some bling, of course. I also painted them with shimmery finish, but my camera is not that good to show that.
Every box is different on the inside also. Here is the one with the butterfly on top:
And here is the inside:
A tiny scroll has a secret message inside. 🙂
And here is the one with the flower on it:
You can’t see it very well, but the heart is red, a little bit distressed with brown ink. On the inside of the lid there is a piece of vintage paper, blank, perfect for a love note.
The last one is a “Quote box”:
It says: “The highest form of art is the art that inspires the heart.”
I hope you like them. Have a great day! 🙂
These were so easy and fast to make that I couldn’t stop at just one. Nothing special, no big deal, just some scarps of paper and a bit of puff paint. Oh, and a stitch or two. 🙂 Well, you could make them without stitching, just use some glue. I still have a lot more scraps, so next time I’ll be making some cute tags and small cards, or even handmade business cards. So many ideas that take almost no time and no money!
And that’s another way to use leftovers and to play very late at night…ummm, who, me? No, I go to bed early! 🙂
