Some Updates

Hello lovely people!

First of all, I want to apologize to my blogging friends for not commenting on their blog posts enough (if at all). My Internet activities came down to my Etsy shop and a bit of Facebook. That is all I can do right now. It’s because I have no patience for long reads, or any reading except books, because I am ill. I have Cervical Cancer. I found about that around Christmas and since then my life has turned up side down. There have been days of despair and sobbing, but most of the time I have been and I am ok. Right now I am waiting for the treatment to start, Chemo and Radiation therapy, which should be in about a week. Yay. 😦

But, I have to do what I have to do and life goes on. I, thankfully, have a ton of things to do and a ton of things to make, I have been busy with my shop, and most importantly, I have my wonderful supporting husband and our two dogs to make me smile every day.

So that is why I wanted to apologize to you my friends, I am thinking of you, I hope you won’t forget me, I just need to go through all this the best way I can and know how, and hopefully I will be able to welcome Spring Cancer free and with a smile on my face.

But enough about that crap. Here is what I’ve been doing lately.

My studio is jam packed with all kinds of materials and supplies! I have been hording things for years, and even though I work and create and make all kinds of things, I still buy yarn and fabrics and paint, I still get things from people, things they don’t want and I DO want, I still recycle (even more), and I simply don’t have enough space for all those fabulous materials. That is why I decided to offer some of my treasures to other people so that they can use them and make fabulous creations with them. πŸ™‚ Here are the kits that are in my shop (and I have many more prepared ).

The Black and White kit:

You have the link above in the name of the kit, so I won’t explain the contents here, I will just say that I construct all my kits with great care, I try to make them big and filled with different things that buyers can use in several projects.

I also have a Blue and Green Kit in the shop:

Again, a ton of things to play with!

There is also a Valentines Kit:

Then this great Masculine Kit:

You can’t see very well in these photos, but there are so many vintage pieces in these kits, some great papers, old or vintage embellishments, book pages, fabrics, yarn, I mean, I love them! I already decided that if they don’t sell for some reason, I will use them as they are and make some fabulous journals and small bags, tags, oh so many things!

Ok. I got a bit distracted. πŸ™‚

There are also some smaller supplies/kits:

My Handmade Paper:

Then another type of Handmade Paper:

A small Blue/Green Embellishment kit:

Small Red Embellishment Kit:

And this lovely Pink and White Small Kit:

This one was recently sold:

As well as this kit:

But there is so much more! I have more kits to add to my shop, but let me show you this gorgeous, (mostly) White Kit that I will hopefully add to the shop in a day or two:

What I especially love to do is to use my handmade unfinished tags and book page bags to pack all these small pieces and yarns into. That way a buyer can use them in a project also, and I get a chance to recycle and help this planet a bit.

Anyway, I have been in and out of the hospital for the past twenty days or so, and I have a week before the treatment starts, so I am trying to work as much as I can and to stock up my shop. I will (hopefully) be home for the weekends in the next couple of months, and my husband will also help me with shipping the packages to buyers, so the shop will work normally. I do need that type of work/fun/amusement/thought distraction now. πŸ™‚

I wish you all great day/night!

This and That

I have two new books to show you! I made them for a swap themed “Mini book of proverbs”. I have been obsessed with texture lately, as you can see here. πŸ™‚

I actually filled them with quotes and poems. πŸ™‚

I added pressed leaves and flowers to this one. The combination of flowers and the colors I used (homemade alcohol inks and acrylic paint) reminds me of fairies and enchanted forests.

Another thing I have to share with you is my new recycling project. Actually, two projects! The first one is the scrappy yarn I’ve been slowly making for quite some time now.

V1 167

Every now and then I take my bag of yarn scraps and while watching listening to TV, I tie them into a new ball of yarn. It’s a slow process, but kind of meditating. I even separated cotton from viscose, black from white, and all those chunky woolly bits were tied together to make that crazy big ball of “everything else”. πŸ™‚

V1 169

So I decided to use some of that lovely crazy yarn (the off white cotton to be precise) , and on top of that I recycled and old bed sheet to weave this rug!

V1 173

Look at all those knots coming through and giving a nice texture to the rug! That’s what I wanted to achieve!

V1 179

They are a bit shy now but they will come out even more after I wash it.

V1 177

I am happy with my new rug! πŸ™‚ Imagine the possibilities with that scrappy yarn, not only in weaving but also in knitting and crocheting! Oohhh, so many ideas are coming to my mind!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Nothing special

I don’t know what is going on with this weather, but it seems like we had Spring and then Autumn. Maybe in a month or two we might get some snow? πŸ™‚

It’s absolutely not very inspiring for me to look at the gray skies and rain all day. I need sunshine to keep me moving, sometimes literally. Lately, all I want to do is to sleep.

And with some not very fun things that needed to be dealt with in the last week or so, I haven’t done much of anything artistic. An ugly page in my art journal, a lot of baking and cooking, a lot of eating and slowly gaining weight, a delivery of my little books to a store and some of them being sold almost instantly (which was the only good thing lately), I can tell you I just feel kinda “deflated”. Not that I don’t have ideas or inspiration, because I do. I just feel tired. Mentally tired.

But I don’t want to sound like I’m whining or something, it’s not that bad! After all, I did manage to clean up my studio a bit, and even make some T-shirt yarn.

It’s not a continuous yarn, because the T shirts were full of seams, but it has a nice length for a weaving project I have in mind. I want to make a doggie bed spread, because I haven’t made any in a couple of years and I think Meda deserves a new one. πŸ™‚ The first one I made for him was a quilt made with recycled jeans, then the second was a quilt made with recycled summer dresses, which is a bit girly, but Meda doesn’t seem to mind,LOL! So this one will be another recycling project, and I can’t wait to start! But first I have to finish a scarf that waited for too long to be worked on.

My mother once noticed that my dog sleeps on a very valuable bed, as it’s handmade and unique.Β  LOL!Β  But he is my baby and I love making things for him.Β  I just baked two pans of cookies for him, because I want him to eat healthy treats. But then I made another batch for me and my hubby, and that was something we really didn’t need late in the evening. πŸ™‚ Oh well, now it’s too late to be sorry.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Do I smell cookies? I have to go! πŸ™‚

So many gifts!

It is absolute joy to open my mailbox lately! I received so many gifts from dear friends around the world! Wonderful ATCs, gorgeous inchies, so much goodies to add to my projects, oh, it’s pure delight!

I participated in a “Stash Swap” at Milliande’s and my Swap partner was Rita from Latvia who sent me an envelope filled with goodies I can’t wait to use in my projects!

Beads, papers, fibers, fabric, and more gorgeous things! Thank you Rita!

Then another wonderful surprise came from England! Mary sent me a Flinchie – which is a combination of a Prayer Flag and Inchies, another swap at Milliande’s that was hosted by Kalona and was great fun! I just love what Mary created for me, it’s made with velvet and ribbons, amethyst, machine stitched inchies, flowers, and it has words “Believe” and “Dream” on it. Thank you Mary!

The photo I took is really bad, I’m sorry it’s not showing well how beautiful it is.

Mary also added a few extra things in the package, some tags, lovely cutouts (I hope that’s how they are called) and a beautiful tag! I love Mary’s art!

But then, another package from Mary arrived today! She was so generous to send me a Sizzix die! How great is that! I was blown away! And it’s not just any die, it’s the one I wanted to buy while I was in the US but the store didn’t have it! Sooo cool! Me happy! πŸ™‚

I am going to have such a great time using all these loveliness! Thank you my dear friends! It’s like Christmas came early this year! πŸ™‚

Lack of inspiration

It looks like my inspiration has gone on holiday. For some reason, I can’t start working properly, even though I have tons of ideas. But they just can’t come out of me. My head is buzzing, but nothing’s been done. My yarn is waiting to be woven into something beautiful, but I just can’t start! I hate when that happens!

So, to keep my self from going insane, I’ve been Β playing with paper these days, hoping for that “Eureka” moment. I started making another mini album which is going to be a gift for a dear friend of mine. I am using some gorgeous papers I brought from the US, and the album is going to be a bit more romantic and feminine that I’m used to. But I like how it’s coming together. Photos coming soon! πŸ™‚ Also, I made some cute Christmas ornaments using newspapers, masking tape, junk mail, paints, and some beads. So, nothing bought, and everything found around the house, which I like! Playing without spending money. Nice! I’m sorry my photos are so bad, (actually they are SO bad I can’t show you all of them). But this is how it started: making a small cone and adding masking tape or decoupaging newspaper to add some texture, but not too much.

Then on one cone I added a little bit of yarn and paint, and also some puff paint, so now it looks like this:

I also used some crazy fluffy yarn, or I just painted the cone and glued beads on it. But here is my favorite one – paint, glitter, stamps and big pearls – it looks like a bell.

So, it seems like my inspiration hasn’t left me completely, but I miss my “normal” state, which would be something like that Tasmanian Devil from the cartoon “The Bugs Bunny Show” – I hope you remember that, LOL! Usually I have too many ideas and so much energy, but not enough time to do everything I’d like to do, and these days I seem to have the ideas but no energy. Hmmm….Maybe a chocolate cake would cure me? What do you think? πŸ™‚
