New Album

I had to make one. I just had to! It’s been a while since I’ve made and album or a journal, and this was a must! With all those men’s scarves woven, I had to make something girly. So here is my new album which was actually made (partially) with recycled materials.

13.12. 001

I made the cover and the pages using cereal boxes. I glued tissue paper to the cover, then painted it with acrylic paint and shimmery finish. The label was made out of the same cardboard, also painted with black acrylic paint, then embossed with black embossing powder. Some of the flowers are store bought, some made by me. πŸ™‚

A Cameo to add to the feminine style πŸ™‚

13.12. 007

A closure made with parts of a broken jewelry:

13.12. 008

13.12. 009

13.12. 011

The flower on the left was made out of corrugated cardboard, painted and embossed, the swirls are actually a velvety packaging from handmade chocolate (yum).

13.12. 012

13.12. 015

The flower on the left was crocheted by me, and I added black beads to the center. The one on the right is also my creation, made with lace and silk.

13.12. 017

The birds cut out of that same velvety packaging material.

13.12. 018

Another handmade flower (an old organza scarf and some beads from a broken necklace), and a cereal box label.

13.12. 020

13.12. 022

Again, cardboard flower, embossed velum, velvety swirls, a small booklet…

13.12. 023

13.12. 024

The flower on the right was taken from an (artificial) flower arrangement, and it is made out of some kind of foamy material which is wonderful to the touch.

13.12. 026

And the back

13.12. 028

So this album is a mix of store bought and recycled materials, and I LOVE it!

And if you are asking why I used cereal boxes and other things in it, well, there are two reasons for that. First one is that I can’t find all of the scrapbook materials that I need because in my country scrapbooking is almost non existing. People often don’t even know what that is. And if you’d believe that there is only one store here in Belgrade that just recently started selling some of the stuff a scrapbooker would need, and that is such a small selection that I often go out of the store empty handed. Not to mention insanely high prices.

Anyway, the other reason came out of the first one, and that is as I have to figure out how to make the things I can’t buy, it became such a creative and relaxing process for me, that now I often want to make something, even if I could buy it. It’s a challenge, as well as a pleasure. It makes me think harder, step outside of the box, imagine how this or that could be used…A wonderful creative process.

I hope you like it. πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful day!

This and that

Still too much to do and not enough time to play! But, loosing some sleep can give you time! Not the best idea I guess, but that’s all I could do! I really wanted to make something, well, just because. And as I have a TON of all kinds of bits and pieces that I just can’t throw away (does that sound familiar to you?) I decided to use some of that ‘treasure’ I collect. So I made a journal with recycled cardboard (of course), scraps of different papers that were just laying around, some packaging material that was great for making a flower, an old button, and some yarn . With just an hour or two late in the evening, I think this journal came out not so bad! πŸ™‚

I love making journals, albums and notebooks. They are pretty, useful, and they make a great gift!

I also made some brooches, crocheted a spiral scarf (as requested by a customer), and then decided to play again (and loose some more sleep, lol) so I made a heart.

I make these hearts from time to time, even though I don’t know what to do with them. I just love hearts! Here are the ones I made some time ago:

I think I have a serious problem with letting go of the things I make. πŸ™‚ Do you have that problem too?

New inchies

I’m supposed to be packing for my trip to US. I will be leaving on Friday, and haven’t started packing at all! Instead, I’m making inchies! How crazy is that! But the inchies I’ve made almost a month ago for “Inchie Fall/Halloween Quilt Swap” at Milliande’sΒ that Lois is hosting, still haven’t reach their destination. So I decided to make new ones, just in case…And to be honest, I am not extremely satisfied with them, but I just can’t concentrate well enough, I’m torn between my need to create and the excitement about this trip. It has been a dream for me to go to America, and now I have a chance to do that! A dear friend of mine asked me to come and visit her for a month, so I couldn’t refuse! πŸ™‚ Yet, this swap is so interesting and fun, I didn’t want to miss it so I had to make more inchies. Anyway, here they are:

I don’t think any of them really Β has anything to do with Halloween, but except the white one which I made as a gift for Lois, others are at least done in Autumn colors, right? πŸ™‚ The two middle ones were made with handwoven fabric and in that way are very much “Me”. And there are flowers and dragonflies and butterflies in Autumn, right? πŸ™‚

Late Summer Photos and a Giveaway

Just some pics of my neighbourhood – a flower here, a texture there, and my doggie of course. πŸ™‚

And now comes the fun part: I decided to give a little something away as a “Thank you” to the readers of my blog. I started blogging only six months ago, and I’m enjoying it immensely! I made this velvet bag in pearl – white color, and embellished it with a doily that my grandmother, who died several years ago, crocheted. So it has a sentimental value, well, for me that is :-). I added white buttons just to make it a little bit more fun, and there you have a 9,5 x 7,5 inch bag, very soft and feminine.

So if you like it, leave a comment or just say “Hi” and I’ll randomly pick a winner and post the name on Monday 12th of September.

Thank you for visiting my blog, big hugs to all! πŸ™‚

Miniature boxes

These boxes are so tiny! Only one inch! They contained microscope glass, but I had no use of that, so I decided to alter them. First I painted them with black acrylic paint, then added crackle medium, and then some off-white paint. After that I embellished them with puff paint, a heart, a flower, and a butterfly. And some bling, of course. I also painted them with shimmery finish, but my camera is not that good to show that.

Every box is different on the inside also. Here is the one with the butterfly on top:

And here is the inside:

A tiny scroll has a secret message inside. πŸ™‚

And here is the one with the flower on it:

You can’t see it very well, but the heart is red, a little bit distressed with brown ink. On the inside of the lid there is a piece of vintage paper, blank, perfect for a love note.

The last one is a “Quote box”:

It says: “The highest form of art is the art that inspires the heart.”

I hope you like them. Have a great day! πŸ™‚
