Good News and a Giveaway

Hello lovely people!

I have some great news to share with you – my Etsy shop is finally working again! I am slowly adding more things to it, but there are some lovely journals there already. You can take a look and tell me what you think. 🙂

So to celebrate that, I would like to give this lovely little journal to one of you!

n-067

It is a small journal, about 4,5 x 5,5 “, but it is quite fat and it has hard cover, very textural and lovely, and a lot of pages inside, as well as pockets and tuck spots. There is also a clay piece on the cover as a decoration and a focal point.

Do you like it? If you do, just leave me a comment and I will be back very soon (probably in about 5 days) to draw a winner. Also, if you wish you could leave a comment on my FB profile and that way you’re also in a game(although that will still count as one entry). 🙂

Good luck!

Holiday is Over

Yep, it’s over, we came home ten days ago, and I now want to go on holiday again! 🙂

As soon as we came home I started preparing food for winter – making tomato juice, tomato sauce and other things with peppers, aubergines etc. I have no idea how to translate those (cooked) things in English, but here in my country it’s a must to have jarred delicious vegetable winter food. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a homemade food, which is always better than the store bought one.

So, it’s been a busy week after holiday, but now that the food is mostly ready, I can concentrate on doing something artsy! But since I have nothing ready yet to show you, here are some things I made before the holiday. 🙂

My journal, now filled with all kinds of memories from Greece.

C 039

It was a quick and fun project, made with all kinds of fabric scraps, with a yellow felt circle and a blue lacy embellishment on the front to symbolize the sun and the sea. I filled it with my handmade paper and other mostly recycled papers.

C 045

I added handmade beads and pieces of yarn to the spine, just for fun.

C 048

And in Greece, I had a great time writing in it and playing with it. 🙂

I also made clay pendants and embellishments. These are almost finished, waiting to be transformed into jewelry, but I have a lot more that need to be painted and sealed with varnish.

Another crocheted bag, ordered by a lovely lady who liked the one I made for my self and wanted the same bag, although this one turned out a little bit darker and bigger.  But she loved it!

I also made her a small crocheted envelope bag for tissues or a cell phone.

Now that I’m looking at these photos, it’s obvious to me that the same color repeats over and over again, my favorite, blue. Which also shows in this journal spread:

It needs a little something to be finished, I just don’t know what it is yet. But no matter how hard I try to use other colors, I always end up using blue. Hmmm…What does it mean? 🙂

Weekend Fun

I’ve been so inspired by photos of gorgeous fabric beads I found on Pinterest that I just had to try making them my self. And to tell you the truth, they are so addictive I’m gonna make some more. A lot more!

Here is my first batch already made into a necklace, and I love it!

It’s fun, it’s bright, and it’s just the thing I need!

I know my beads are not perfect, but I like them anyway, and for my first try, I think they turned out pretty good. I enjoyed making them while sitting with my hubby, watching TV. It was very relaxing. So now I plan to make more in different colors because I need more necklaces, and why not having something unique and made by me! 🙂

Have a great day! 🙂

It all started with a scarf

Yes, it all started with this scarf.

Slightly ruffled, woven with cotton, viscose, wool and mohair. I am a bit obsessed with ruffles lately. 🙂 Instead of using elastic yarn, I like to play with my fabric by giving it shape by hand. That way I have more control over how finished piece should look like, but also it makes me more creative and playful. Because of that, this scarf does carry some weight in the middle section (length wise), but it’s not too much, and I think that the scarf looks lovely this way – not too ruffled, but still with some movement.

The inspiration for it came from the blue-green yarn:

After the scarf was complete, I wanted to play more with that yarn. You can’t see very well, but the yarn is shimmery, which lately became my middle name – shimmer! And since I’ve joined another Swap at Milliande’s, “Art Pin Swap”, I made some pins! White handwoven fabric, that gorgeous yarn, machine stitching and some beads. Simple yet very effective. Again, the photo is not showing them as it should, really don’t know why. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am not a professional photographer,LOL!

Then I had to make some more! These pins are very addictive.

Ok, I had to add some purple! Another favorite color of mine. 🙂

And then, as all this wasn’t enough, I started making a journal cover!

Honestly, I love days like these when everything happens at the same time. Ideas just come to me all at once, and I keep jumping from the loom, to sewing machine,  to my desk, and repeat that a hundred times. It leaves a horrible mess in my studio, but then again, it’s a tiny studio so at least I don’t have a huge space to clean. Although, it’s getting harder and harder to move around here! 🙂

The scarf is going to be listed in my Etsy store, but the journal still needs more work. And I also started weaving something blue – again, but this time it’s more navy blue, with very interesting yarn and pattern. You’ll see it in a couple of days. 🙂

This and that

Still too much to do and not enough time to play! But, loosing some sleep can give you time! Not the best idea I guess, but that’s all I could do! I really wanted to make something, well, just because. And as I have a TON of all kinds of bits and pieces that I just can’t throw away (does that sound familiar to you?) I decided to use some of that ‘treasure’ I collect. So I made a journal with recycled cardboard (of course), scraps of different papers that were just laying around, some packaging material that was great for making a flower, an old button, and some yarn . With just an hour or two late in the evening, I think this journal came out not so bad! 🙂

I love making journals, albums and notebooks. They are pretty, useful, and they make a great gift!

I also made some brooches, crocheted a spiral scarf (as requested by a customer), and then decided to play again (and loose some more sleep, lol) so I made a heart.

I make these hearts from time to time, even though I don’t know what to do with them. I just love hearts! Here are the ones I made some time ago:

I think I have a serious problem with letting go of the things I make. 🙂 Do you have that problem too?

Late night fun

This is what I like to do in the evenings. Instead of watching TV, I like to relax by playing with paper.

I recycled again, this time it’s Mc Donald’s paper cup (yes, I occasionally eat junk food, hehe).

I wrapped it with masking tape, then added some white glue over that just to keep everything in place. Painted it with acrylics, glued punched flowers, and glued buttons in centers. And that’s it! Now I have a lovely and colorful cup which could be used for so many things.

I also made some ATCs I plan to give to friends instead of classic Christmas cards. Well, I made some cards too, but I wanted to show you these. Nothing too complicated, but I like how they turned out.

Have a great day! 🙂
