Holiday is Over

Yep, it’s over, we came home ten days ago, and I now want to go on holiday again! 🙂

As soon as we came home I started preparing food for winter – making tomato juice, tomato sauce and other things with peppers, aubergines etc. I have no idea how to translate those (cooked) things in English, but here in my country it’s a must to have jarred delicious vegetable winter food. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a homemade food, which is always better than the store bought one.

So, it’s been a busy week after holiday, but now that the food is mostly ready, I can concentrate on doing something artsy! But since I have nothing ready yet to show you, here are some things I made before the holiday. 🙂

My journal, now filled with all kinds of memories from Greece.

C 039

It was a quick and fun project, made with all kinds of fabric scraps, with a yellow felt circle and a blue lacy embellishment on the front to symbolize the sun and the sea. I filled it with my handmade paper and other mostly recycled papers.

C 045

I added handmade beads and pieces of yarn to the spine, just for fun.

C 048

And in Greece, I had a great time writing in it and playing with it. 🙂

C 052

I also made clay pendants and embellishments. These are almost finished, waiting to be transformed into jewelry, but I have a lot more that need to be painted and sealed with varnish.

C 059

Another crocheted bag, ordered by a lovely lady who liked the one I made for my self and wanted the same bag, although this one turned out a little bit darker and bigger.  But she loved it!

C 026

I also made her a small crocheted envelope bag for tissues or a cell phone.

Now that I’m looking at these photos, it’s obvious to me that the same color repeats over and over again, my favorite, blue. Which also shows in this journal spread:

It needs a little something to be finished, I just don’t know what it is yet. But no matter how hard I try to use other colors, I always end up using blue. Hmmm…What does it mean? 🙂

My New Bag

I recently had to throw away one of my favorite bags because it was too damaged (or should I say well used and loved).

But as nothing goes to waste here in my art/craft world, I completely took it apart, saving the zippers and other good bits. Then I crocheted a fun and colorful cotton bag, about the same size as the old one, and used the old zipper for closure, as well as the inside pocket (the zippered one) that I sewed into the lining.

And because it’s a summer bag, why not adding some flowers to it? 🙂

B 003

I also needed another inside pocket because I am a pocket person. 🙂 And because I didn’t have any more of that blue fabric or recycled pockets, I crocheted it.

Now I have a wonderful, colorful, fun and unique bag! I’m happy! 🙂

Makeup Bags

As you can see, I have been very busy lately, and I hope I’ll stay like that for a long time. But, every time I get into this “crazy” state, I seem to “burn out” after a while, and then loose my muse, or energy, or how ever you might call it. But, I intend to enjoy it while it lasts.

Sooo, I have something small and cute to share with you. I have been playing with my handwoven fabric again, and made these makeup bags, or small purses, or just something to put whatever you’d like in. 🙂

Two smaller ones are about 6.5 inches by 5.5 inches, and the bigger one is 8.5 x 5.5 so that one could be used as a lovely clutch, maybe with a Summer dress or jeans…

Two of these are going to my friends as birthday gifts, and I am seriously tempted to keep one for my self, even though I already have quite a few. But I just love them!

The flowers are suede that was cut with Sizzix. Fast and easy.

The next clutch was actually made a long time ago, it just needed some finishing touches, and I finally finished it! I guess some things have to wait for the right moment. But you should put your sunglasses on, because this one is very bright!

Crazy, huh? I call it “Neon”. I am so clever, right? LOL!

Have a wonderful day everyone! xo!

Late Summer Photos and a Giveaway

Just some pics of my neighbourhood – a flower here, a texture there, and my doggie of course. 🙂

And now comes the fun part: I decided to give a little something away as a “Thank you” to the readers of my blog. I started blogging only six months ago, and I’m enjoying it immensely! I made this velvet bag in pearl – white color, and embellished it with a doily that my grandmother, who died several years ago, crocheted. So it has a sentimental value, well, for me that is :-). I added white buttons just to make it a little bit more fun, and there you have a 9,5 x 7,5 inch bag, very soft and feminine.

So if you like it, leave a comment or just say “Hi” and I’ll randomly pick a winner and post the name on Monday 12th of September.

Thank you for visiting my blog, big hugs to all! 🙂

Weekend fun

And how was your weekend? Did you have fun? 🙂

What made me happy today

Do you have those days when nothing goes right? That was the case with me this weekend. I started making a purse with some of my handwoven fabric, and it just didn’t want to cooperate. My seams weren’t straight, the fabric was stretching, it was a disaster. Then, I started making a cake using a recipe from the Internet, and again, no success. It will be eaten, no worries there, but it’s not as it should be. I also wanted to make some blueberry jam, and I burned it. Well, that’s because I was struggling with the purse, so I forgot to check on the jam! 🙂 Also, I tried sewing some velvet for a lady who wanted small velvet bags, and it was as if it was alive, wiggling under the needle and making my job a torture! I did finish them but after so much trouble that I don’t want to do that again! The only thing that turned out ok is this little loveliness:

Here is the back, open so you can see the leaves better. I used handwoven fabric, my hand carved stamp, fabric paint and stitching:

It perfectly accommodates a passport, or a bigger cell phone, but I’m going to use it for hankies. A lady should always keep her hankies in something beautiful, right? 🙂

This morning I stitched some velcro to it for closure, and that means it was finished today, so I will count that as a first thing that made me happy.

The second thing was a message I received from Monika –, who said that I am one of the few ladies (randomly picked) that will receive a bonus ATC in the “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” ATC Swap at Milliande’s. That was so nice to hear! I’ve never “won” anything before, so for my name to be drawn amongst six, was great! Thank you Monika!

And another thing that made me happy today was an envelope from Ireland! Helen Goulty hosted an ATC Swap themed “Unusual shaped ATC’s” also at Milliande’s, and two gorgeous cards have arrived!

Aren’t they lovely? The one on the right was made by Anne Trudell from Canada, and it opens up to show some beautiful flowers!

The other card was made by Deedee Forrester and it’s very shimmery. I loooove shimmer!

Both are very colorful and show so much creativity. Love them!

Helen Also sent me some postage stamps and lovely ribbons and papers that are so gorgeous! Thank you so much Helen! I didn’t expect extra goodies, and that was another surprise for me today! I will use them in my projects; actually, I already have a few ideas.

So, after a “not very successful crafting” weekend, some lovely things happened and now I’m smiling! To show you how happy I am, here is an embarrassing “cookie smile” photo of me (it’s never too late to go completely nuts!).

Weaving and sewing

I’m in love with this purse!

It all started by making the heart with some scraps of cotton and silk fabric. I loved it so much, and immediately had to attach it to something. So, I grabbed some handwoven cotton fabric, more silk, and voila! I think I might keep this one! Sooo cute 🙂 I just adore the fraying and unevenness!

And here is another purse, not handwoven, but I like it just the same:

I painted the fabric gray and black, and added some color by stitching with different threads. Easy and fun!

There is also a shawl that was finished about a month ago but I didn’t take a photo of it, so I finally photographed it, and now proudly present Autumn colors in Spring! 🙂

And now, let’s go make some more gorgeous stuff! What are your plans for the weekend? 🙂
