New Stuff

I need to work and play. I can’t just think about the floods and disaster. For over a week I have been focused on danger from the water and on helping others, and even though those worries are still present, and helping continues, I also need to work. But equally important is to play and let go of all the worries.

My spring cleaning odyssey is getting close to summer, but a lot of work has been done! First of all, my studio expanded! πŸ™‚ My husband and I decided that we wanted a smaller bedroom and larger studio (for me) so we switched two rooms and man it is amazing! The bedroom is so warm and cozy now, and my studio is airy and less cluttered. I love it all! I will take photos one of these days, we just need to paint the walls first. But that change was a LOT of work! Moving and cleaning every little bottle and jar, finding new place for things to make everything organized, trying to make everything look neat and most of all reachable! I have to say, with the furniture that I have (I didn’t want to buy anything because this apartment is already full) I did a pretty good job. It took me ten days to finish both rooms, or to get close to that, but I am very pleased with how it all looks.

So, until I take those photos and show you the space, here are some of my latest creations.

A shawl made with scrap yarn that needed to be transformed into something beautiful. πŸ™‚

I used thick yarn, thin yarn, shimmery one, wool, cotton, all kinds of yarn! I love to experiment and this shawl turned out very nice!

Another one is also woven with different kinds of yarn, but this one is way more colorful.

I also made an album for a customer who wanted it as a gift from the kids to their teacher, so she said it needs to have thirty blank pages, one for every child to do something on it. I had so much fun making this album. The only thing I knew I had to do is to put IV2 on the cover, but the rest was left to my imagination. So I thought a heart is a must because kinds love their teacher, then a bit of lined paper, a filmstrip frame because there will be photos inside, some crackle and some shimmer and glitter…

It’s quite big, almost A4 size, but there had to be enough room for the children to draw and glue on. πŸ™‚

V1 013

The most important thing is that the customer loves it! Yay!Β  You just have to imagine more ribbon for the binding, because I didn’t want to tie it all now as it would get wrinkled, and also it needs to be all untied so that every child can have it’s own page to work on.

That’s it for now, even though I have more things to show you but they will have to wait. I don’t want to drown you in photos. πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Waiting for Spring

I’m so not happy with this Winter. We had very little, actually almost no snow, quite a lot of rain and wind, too much gloomy weather, so all in all, it’s been very “unwintery” period. I feel so ready for Spring! But I guess I’ll have to wait. πŸ™‚

Until the Spring comes, I can at least play with bright colors and flowers, and make some Spring atmosphere in my home, right?

## 063.

## 066

This album was fun to make. It has more pages and tags than I’ve ever made before, and almost every page has a flower on it. I totally went crazy with embellishing this album. But the colors make me happy. πŸ™‚

Lots of sewing. Every page is actually a pocket made by sewing two pages together.

Now I’ll definitely have to make more flowers. πŸ™‚

New Album

I had to make one. I just had to! It’s been a while since I’ve made and album or a journal, and this was a must! With all those men’s scarves woven, I had to make something girly. So here is my new album which was actually made (partially) with recycled materials.

13.12. 001

I made the cover and the pages using cereal boxes. I glued tissue paper to the cover, then painted it with acrylic paint and shimmery finish. The label was made out of the same cardboard, also painted with black acrylic paint, then embossed with black embossing powder. Some of the flowers are store bought, some made by me. πŸ™‚

A Cameo to add to the feminine style πŸ™‚

13.12. 007

A closure made with parts of a broken jewelry:

13.12. 005

13.12. 008

13.12. 009

13.12. 011

The flower on the left was made out of corrugated cardboard, painted and embossed, the swirls are actually a velvety packaging from handmade chocolate (yum).

13.12. 012

13.12. 015

The flower on the left was crocheted by me, and I added black beads to the center. The one on the right is also my creation, made with lace and silk.

13.12. 017

The birds cut out of that same velvety packaging material.

13.12. 018

Another handmade flower (an old organza scarf and some beads from a broken necklace), and a cereal box label.

13.12. 020

13.12. 022

Again, cardboard flower, embossed velum, velvety swirls, a small booklet…

13.12. 023

13.12. 024

The flower on the right was taken from an (artificial) flower arrangement, and it is made out of some kind of foamy material which is wonderful to the touch.

13.12. 026

And the back

13.12. 028

So this album is a mix of store bought and recycled materials, and I LOVE it!

And if you are asking why I used cereal boxes and other things in it, well, there are two reasons for that. First one is that I can’t find all of the scrapbook materials that I need because in my country scrapbooking is almost non existing. People often don’t even know what that is. And if you’d believe that there is only one store here in Belgrade that just recently started selling some of the stuff a scrapbooker would need, and that is such a small selection that I often go out of the store empty handed. Not to mention insanely high prices.

Anyway, the other reason came out of the first one, and that is as I have to figure out how to make the things I can’t buy, it became such a creative and relaxing process for me, that now I often want to make something, even if I could buy it. It’s a challenge, as well as a pleasure. It makes me think harder, step outside of the box, imagine how this or that could be used…A wonderful creative process.

I hope you like it. πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful day!

All Different

Despite the horribly hot weather (with temperatures up to 50C) I’ve been busy making books, journals and albums. What else could I do? πŸ™‚

Here is another recycling project:

As I was saying in my last post, I have so many papers of all kinds, making it harder and harder to find what I want in my ‘not very well organized’ studio. So why not making a nice book/journal?

It would be great as a travel journal. Ohh, Greece, just one more month and I’m coming to you! LOL!

I also made this mini album:

And my first Art Journal is finished! Filled up with my writing, quotes, splashes of paint, ugly pages and not so ugly ones. πŸ™‚

I have two more journals that I work in from time to time, and a sketch book that needs a bit more attention, lol! And although I am not quite sure any of my journals should be called and Art journal, or maybe a journal/smash/trash book, it doesn’t matter as long as I’m having fun playing in them.

That’s it for today. I hope you are having a great week! xo!

New Creations

Even though it’s extremely hot here in my little corner of the world with temperatures going up to 39 C, I have been “in the mood” for creating, and I love it! There is nothing better than making pretty things. πŸ™‚ So here are some of my creations.

A very light and slightly sparkly scarf:

It took me some time to finish it because I chose a very fine yarn to work with, but it was worth the pain. πŸ™‚

I also made an album in brown and gold tones.

And a Birthday card, made with recycled cardboard, acrylic paint, handmade paper and old lace:

And there is more, but I think it’s enough for this post. πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful day!

It Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect!

Hello my lovelies!

I’ve been reading about Art Journaling, and how it doesn’t have to be perfect or done “by the rules”, and to tell you the truth, I found out that it is absolutely true! Well of course it’s true,Β  people who are doing it for a long time surely know what they are talking about, but since I’m new in that area, it took me some time to figure it out. But now I know, and now I can have so much fun playing with my journals and albums.

As I told you before, I can’t draw or paint. And it’s true. But I don’t have a problem with that, because I know that I can’t be good in everything. I weave and I make books and journals, and that’s “my thing”. But I sure can have fun with paint and express my feelings in the way I like. I also found over the time that my scrapbooking and art journaling are connected, which is probably absolutely normal for other people, but as I said, I have been learning and exploring over the past few years, and it makes me happy to finally find my way through all that.

I started making an album over a year ago, and I had a theme – black,Β  white and purple. Then, I kinda stopped, like I didn’t know what to do next. And it may be strange because I have made so many albums for other people since then, but my album was just sitting there, waiting for me to continue working on it. Then, I heard about Art Journal, so I wanted to see what that is. I started to draw, it was horrible, I got frustrated and didn’t want to do it any more. And that story continued for some time – trying, not liking it, and so on.

But then, it came to me that I should let my self (or my journal, or both) be imperfect, messy, or what ever, and that’s when I began to really enjoy it. I am certain that it is good for me, as I always seek perfection in my work, especially in pieces I sell, but we all have to let go of those expectations and rules and perfection, and just have fun!

I also love to recycle, reuse, I like to find a way to make something out of nothing, and now I can do that in my journals.

So here are a few pages from my (still unfinished) scrapbook/journal/junk journal:

Some pages are finished, some still need finishing touches, or some journaling, and not to mention how I don’t care about the color scheme anymore, and I love it! I feel so happy that I’ve let my self make an imperfect album! πŸ™‚

And my Art Journal is like that too! Here are some pages I did lately:

And it also made me more confident to show you all this, because I am my worst critic and I used to be very shy in showing my imperfectΒ  journals. But I am not anymore! πŸ™‚

This and that

Hi everyone! How are you? Having fun? πŸ™‚

I just wanted to show you some of my latest creations, because, to be honest, I needed to step away from some “not that nice” things that were going on lately, and just blog it away (if I could say it like that). Well, you know what I mean. It’s nice to put problems aside and dive into fabric and paper and beads…

So, here is something I made for my hubby.

What is it called? An accordion book? Or folder? I don’t know, but my husband has a ton of papers, bills and things like that, so this is going to be very useful. He loves it! And the thing is, I never made something like this before, so while I explored and had fun, I created a gift for him. I only wish I could embellished it more, lol!

Then, there are two new fabric covered journals with my handmade paper inside, and I just love the texture of both paper and fabric!

This one has a handwoven cover:

I do love to play with my fabric. This one is the same as the one I used to make those cute makeup bags.

The other journal also has a heart on the cover, which is no surprise. I am mad about hearts. πŸ™‚

And a bright and fun little album made with corrugated cardboard, my favorite material!

Have a great weekend!

Good News

I am very lucky to be given the opportunity to sell my albums and other pretty things in the best part of Belgrade – the “Skadarlia Street” or often called “Bohemian Street”. If you’re looking for traditional Serbian food, galleries full of amazing art, beautiful cafes, and just great atmosphere, you should come to Skadarlia Street. A lovely and very talented lady is opening a shop in a few days, and she asked me if I would like to sell my stuff there. I mean, how could I refuse an offer like that! πŸ™‚

So, I have been busy making albums, and they are all inspired by Spring! Bright colors, flowers, glitter, feathers…I am having so much fun! In fact, the “look” of my new albums is maybe even too bright and romantic than what I usually make, but I couldn’t help it. Blame the sunshine and blooming trees, lol!

Here is the first one, and I’ll post photos of other albums some other day because it would be just too much for one post. πŸ™‚

And that’s the first one. I hope you like it. πŸ™‚

Blogaversary Giveaway!

I almost forgot that today is my Blogaversary! I can’t believe that the whole year passed so quickly! OMG! And what a great year it was! I am having so much fun here, sharing with you my creations and bits of my life. So it’s giving time, and I would love to give to one of you the purse/makeup bag I created a while ago.

This purse was made with machine stitched navy blue fabric, lace, and painted plastic bags. Unusual and unique. I hope you like it. And if you do, just leave a comment here on my blog, and I will randomly pick the winner on Tuesday, March 13th. πŸ™‚
I also wanted to share with you my latest (and already SOLD) album. I forgot to post photos of it earlier, and I really love how it turned out, so here it is now!

I used thin corrugated cardboard for the covers, and very thin cardboard for the pages. Everything was first painted with several coats of acrylic paint, and then I added lots of lovely scrapbook papers, bling, puff paint, feathers, lace, and other things. I love it! And tomorrow it’s flying to US! πŸ™‚

Thank you for stopping by! I still can’t believe it’s been a year since I started this journey. πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful day!
