I’ve been knitting!
I am not a great knitter, I can knit only simple shapes such as scarves and other things with straight edges ๐ and maybe an ugly sock or two. But I do plan to learn more and be able to knit a sweater (maybe one day).
As I was organizing my studio I found a lot of yarn that just wasn’t “speaking” to me anymore. Not for my weaving, that is. But then I thoughtย I could knit something with it. So I took three strands of yarn, and made this chunky long scarf:
It’s wide and soft and just perfect for cold weather.
The other one was made for the gentleman in the photo (you can’t see his face because he wanted it that way), my husband. ๐
He wanted it striped so that’s what I did, but I added the pattern just for fun. Actually, it’s only a simple change of stitches every two or three (or twenty) rows. But it looks good, and hubby loves it. So I am happy.
The third one is a handwoven scarf.
But it actually started as a set of table runners! I took a fine greyish cotton I almost forgot I had, added a bit of lime green cotton, and wove my table runners. Then I washed the fabric (and prepared to cut and sew it), but it shrunk! And not only that, it softened too! So magically, a scarf was born! ๐
Well, why not?
Looks great to me.
Wonderful as usual Sonja, but what a shame we cannot see your handsome husband ๐
Thank you Mary! I will secretly photograph him next time! Lol!
You are a much better knitter than you give yourself credit for.
Thank you Jenny! ๐
Those are all wonderful, Sonja. I especially like the table runner one. Beautiful work.
Thank you Terri! At first I wasn’t sure what to do with the fabric, but then it became obvious it wanted to be a scarf from the start, I just wasn’t informed about that. ๐
You have been a very busy girl. The headless husband is a good scarf model ๐ The woven scarf looks like a beautiful accident ๐ xoxo
Thank you Monika! I wonder what will happen when I make a hat for him. How am I going to photograph that!?! ๐
The scarves are beautiful! I agree that your husband is a great scarf model! It can be a challenge to figure out what when something doesn’t work as planned, but you’ve done a wonderful job with the table runner – it’s a gorgeous scarf! I love the soft colors of it. You make me want to learn to weave – like I need one more hobby!! Lol!!
Thank you Lynnita! Yes, one more hobby…I know. I also have too many already. ๐
Haha… Did he do it for free? Or, you treated him with a delicious meal afterwards ๐
What do you mean for free? He has a new scarf! And I made him cookies! That’s generous I would say. ๐
Ohh, in that case, he was well paid for his services ๐
Sonja, I love the grey and lime green combination! So cool! And if that is your version of not being a great knitter, you are welcome to knit me something any day! Great job! chris
Aww,thank you Chris!
Those scarves….wow! Your craftsmanship is impeccable…..beautifully made, sister. xoxo
Thank you so much! ๐
Beautiful Work — Is your husband your model? … Love checking in on your blog Xo
Yes Kristine, he is. I am lucky he doesn’t expect me to pay him! Lol!!!
